How the Sand Art Works

The sand painting rotates 180 degrees, allowing air to flow through the bottom of the sand. As the bubbles and quicksand move and change randomly, the landscape will be different each time, and no two views will be exactly the same. When the sand has completely settled at the bottom, allow it to remain still for approximately 30 minutes before turning it over again to create a new landscape.

Maintenance and Air & Water Adjustment

As temperature and pressure change, it may occasionally be necessary to adjust the amount of air and water inside the sand art. There are air adjustment holes (circular holes) located at the top or on either side of the frame. The sand art relies on a natural balance of water, sand, and air. The recommended air layer is approximately 1 cm, which allows the sand to flow properly.

Note: The air layer has already been properly balanced before delivery. Under normal circumstances, there is no need to adjust the air or water.

Important Precautions When Adjusting the Air

The air is contained between two pieces of glass, and the adjustment hole is approximately 1 mm in diameter. Do not force a hard object into the hole. If the adjustment tool cannot be inserted easily, you may not be positioned over the correct hole. Do not insert a hard object at this point, as this may deform the adjustment tool. Instead, select another suitable position and try again until the tool can be inserted easily.

If the Sand Falls Too Slowly — Remove Some Air

  1. 1 Locate an air vent at the top or on the side of the frame and move the sand away from the opening. 2 - Insert the adjustment tool into the air hole and remove a small amount of air.

If the Sand Falls Too Quickly — Add Some Air

  1. 1 In the same way as above, locate an air hole and move the sand away from the opening. 2 - Insert the adjustment tool into the air hole and add a small amount of air.

If Small Bubbles Become One Large Bubble

If many small bubbles in the sand layer combine into one particularly large bubble, a small amount of water may be added to compensate for water evaporation.

  1. 1 Always use pure water. 2 - Select an air hole, move the sand away from the opening, remove some air, and empty the adjustment tool. 3 - Use the adjustment tool to add the same amount of water.

Important: Do not add too much water at once. Excessive pressure may cause the glass to break.
